2020 Hyundai Creta Wants To Be A Range Rover – Modified By Owner

2020 Hyundai Creta Wants To Be A Range Rover – Modified By Owner

2020 Hyundai Creta Modified

2020 Hyundai Creta is the best selling SUV in India; making it a very common sight on our roads

Since its launch, the new 2020 Hyundai Creta has been a fan favourite for customers who like to modify their cars. The second generation Creta was launched earlier this year and customers have already started modifying their new prized possessions. While some car mods are tasteful, some aren’t too pleasing to the eyes.

YouTube channel, Technical Bhopal, has uploaded an interesting car mod of the 2020 Hyundai Creta. The car happens to be a base model of the 2020 Hyundai Creta but has been modified to look like a wannabe Land Rover Range Rover.

2020 Hyundai Creta Inspired By Range Rover

While the mod job looks tacky as it has been done to make the Creta look like a Range Rover. However, if we were to look at the modification alone, it does have some praise worthy elements.

The car has been draped around in dark grey matte wrap which does make it look a little different compared to the standard SUV. At front, the owner has installed a new aftermarket grille to make it look like a Range Rover.

Old fog lamps have been replaced by new aftermarket LED units. Headlamps haven’t been modified though and have been kept in the stock form. The modifiers have also installed a camera at the front which is most probably part of the 360 degree degree camera set-up.

On the sides, the modifiers have installed new 18-inch alloy wheels which come along with Land Rover logos. Multi colour vinyl tint has been added on the windscreen, brake calipers have been painted in red colour while the ORVMs get a gloss black color scheme.

To make the Creta look more like a Land Rover, the modifiers have also installed Land Rover badges on the side. To add to the premium feel, a sunroof has been installed by the modifiers however it is just a standard sunroof only.

Hyundai offers a panoramic sunroof on the top of the line Creta however as it is the base variant, the owners had to get the installation done from after-market modifiers. On the rear-end, a Rover badge has been installed while the brake lamps have been wrapped as well.

Interiors

The dashboard gets a dedicated leather wrapping and a large infotainment unit too has been installed. Diamond stitched leather upholstery has been installed on seats and the rear seats also get individual infotainment units. Land Rover badges can be seen here also, on the seats and the steering wheel.

It needs to be noted that modifications are illegal as per law. Owners can make such modifications to their vehicles; however, changes made to the vehicle needs to be certified by the RTO.

TVS Zeppelin Trademark Registered, Are We Finally Getting it?

TVS Zeppelin Trademark Registered, Are We Finally Getting it?

TVS recently dropped a bombshell with the launch of the updated Apache RTR 200 4V. It is worth noting that TVS gave the Apache RTR 200 4V a thorough makeover, not too long ago. This goes on to show that TVS is one such company which actually believes in evolution and bestows its two-wheelers with necessary updates, rather than just playing around with different colour schemes and body graphics. It looks like TVS is readying another weapon to unleash on its rivals and it is none other than the Zeppelin.

More details

The TVS Zeppelin, despite being a concept which was showcased two years ago at the 2018 Auto Expo, has managed to stay popular. Trademark registration data reveals that TVS has received approval for its Zepplin R motorcycle.

At the time when the concept was showcased, it was named ‘Zeppelin’ but the trademark details reveal that the ‘e’ has been dropped and now it’s just ‘Zepplin’. The upcoming motorcycle also gets an additional ‘R’.

Powertrain

The concept which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo featured a 220cc engine coupled with a 1200W regenerative assist motor with 48V Li-ION battery. Though it’s highly unlikely that TVS will develop a new hybrid engine for the Zeppelin when they already have a host of engine options available in their portfolio. They could swap in the same 197.5cc oil-cooled engine found on the RTR 200 4V which is good for 20.5 ps @ 8500 rpm. Like mentioned above, TVS is also planning to launch another motorcycle based on the 310 platform. Although we think this will be a different motorcycle altogether, we won’t be surprised to see the same motor power the Zeppelin.

Features and specifications

TVS pays special attention when it comes to designing instrument clusters of their motorcycles. They understand that instrument clusters loaded with features and smartphone app compatibility are the order of the day! It would be safe to assume that TVS will leave no holds barred in designing the Zeppelin’s instrument cluster. It could host the same connectivity features found on the Apache RR 310 too! When they can pull it off with the Ntorq, they might as well do it with the Zeppelin too, right?

Targeted at the new-age long-distance rider, TVS Zeppelin concept was a sleek metal-bodied cruiser in a striking shade of rustic brown. It featured some premium cycle parts too including front USD forks and a rear mono-shock. The same suspension setup could make its way to the production version too. The concept also boasted of an integrated HD Action camera to capture your riding adventures on the go. TVS might not include the latter but they have never shied away from dressing their motorcycles with premium cycle parts. That shouldn’t change with the Zeppelin either.

Finally a TVS cruiser?

Part of the reason why it garnered so much attention at the 2018 Auto expo and still manages to do so is that TVS currently has no cruiser in their portfolio. The TVS Zeppelin came out as a new milestone in the world of cruising, where power cruising and a minimalist design blend seamlessly with cutting-edge technology. The riding posture of the TVS Zeppelin concept was aggressive yet comfortable, with a two-up seat, lowered bars and feet forward highway pegs. If TVS decides to put the Zeppelin into production, it could manage to make a dent in the astronomical sales figures of Royal Enfield.

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (New-Gen Thunderbird 350) India Launch Today

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (New-Gen Thunderbird 350) India Launch Today

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is expected to be priced Rs. 1.69 lakh onwards, and will serve as a replacement for the Thunderbird 350

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is set to launch in the Indian market today, and the anticipation for the motorcycle has reached new heights. Fans of the brand have been waiting to get their hands on one for a long time now. Here, we have a video which showcases the new Meteor 350, in its Stellar Black Matte variant.

In all honesty, the Matte Black paint looks extremely ravishing, and is perhaps the best colour in the range. Other paint options include – Fireball Yellow, Fireball Red, Stellar Red Metallic, Stellar Blue Metallic, Supernova Brown, and Supernova Blue. The design of the motorcycle is retro-inspired design, like all Royal Enfield models, and closely resembles the Thunderbird 350, which was discontinued earlier this year.

The motorcycle gets a rounded headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a wide seat, and a long exhaust end can. The “Royal Enfield” insignia on the tank is also new. The bike has very relaxed ergonomics, with forward set footpegs, raised handlebars, and relatively low seat height. The motorcycle also gets round rear-view mirrors, in line with the bike’s retro theme.

The front wheel of the Meteor is a 19-inch unit, shod with 100/90 tyre, while the rear wheel is 17-inch in size, and has a 140/70 tyre. The bike gets disc brakes on both ends (300mm front and 270mm rear), and dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. The instrument cluster is a twin-pod semi-digital unit, which offers Bluetooth-enabled turn-by-turn navigation as well.

The engine of the Meteor 350 is a brand-new unit; this 349cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine now utilises an OHC design, retiring the push-rod architecture of the older powerplant. The result is a smoother and more reliable engine, with 20.2 HP and 27 Nm of peak power and torque output. Sadly, the “thump” of the exhaust is extremely muted now, which is sure to upset purists.

The Meteor 350 will be offered in three variants – Fireball, Stellar, and Supernova. The Fireball variant will get blacked-out engine and rims, while the Stellar version will have chrome-plated handlebar, exhaust, and EFI cover, along with a backrest for the pillion. The Supernova model will be the most premium offering, and will get machine-cut alloy wheels, a tall windscreen, and premium seat upholstery.

2021 Yamaha MT-07 Unveiled With Revised Styling And Cleaner Engine

2021 Yamaha MT-07 Unveiled With Revised Styling And Cleaner Engine

2021 Yamaha MT-07

The Euro 5 compliant parallel-twin motor produces marginally lower power and torque but the real-world performance shouldn’t suffer

When the 2021 Yamaha MT-09 with a completely new headlamp design broke cover a few day ago, we though it is only a matter of time before rest of Yamaha’s street fighter range receive a similar update. Just as expected, the MT-07 receives the styling update for the 2021 model year.

2021 Yamaha MT-07

The 2021 Yamaha MT-07 features a radical looking LED headlamp flanked by DRLs. The whole setup makes for a Y-shaped lighting signature. In its latest avatar, the brisk selling mid-weight naked motorcycle also features restyled vents and body panels. The overall appearance is much bolder than before although some may find it polarizing.

The new MT-07 continues to carry forward its 680 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with 270-degree crank shaft. Yamaha engineers have made the motor compliant with the latest Euro-5 emission norms. As a result, the performance figures took a nominal hint. The new power and torque figures stand at 73.4 hp and 67 Nm of torque (1.4 hp and 1 Nm less than before).

Elements like exhaust, air-intake and injectors have been revised in addition to new ECU configuration in an attempt to meet the stricter emission standards. The company claims that the changes have made the motor smoother and more linear than before.

Equipment

The 2021 Yamaha MT-07 also receives larger 298 mm twin disc brakes up front (older ones measured 282 mm in dia). Dual-channel ABS system continues to be standard fitment. The motorcycle also receives new Michelin Pilot Road 5 tyres just like its new rival, the Triumph Trident.

The new Yamaha MT-07 is equipped with LED turn indicators, a new LCD instrument console with inverted colors with remote control and new body decals. The bike is available in three color options namely Storm Fluo, Tech Black and Icon Blue.

Price and launch

Yamaha has not revealed the prices but one can expect a marginal hike owing to the tweaks and additional equipment. In Europe, the motorcycle is slated to hit the showrooms in March 2021. In the international markets, the Yamaha MT-07 competes with Kawasaki 650, Honda CB650R and the newly launched Triumph Trident.

With its value for money quotient, the Yamaha MT-07 would be an interesting proposition for the Indian market but the previous edition was not on sale here. It remains to be seen if Yamaha will be interested in bringing the latest MT-07 to our market or not.

TVS Apache RR310-Based Adventure Bike Expected To Debut Next Year

TVS Apache RR310-Based Adventure Bike Expected To Debut Next Year

The upcoming TVS adventure motorcycle will have the same engine and platform as the Apache RR310, and will rival the KTM 250 Adventure

In 2017, TVS introduced its flagship model, the Apache RR310, in the Indian market. The motorcycle was jointly developed by TVS and BMW Motorrad, and in 2018, it spawned two BMW bikes as well – G 310 R and G 310 GS. While the former is a naked streetfighter, the latter is an adventure motorcycle. In contrast, the TVS offering is a fully-faired sports tourer.

BMW will be introducing a fully-faired sportsbike variant of the G310 in the future, expected to be christened ‘G 310 RR’. As for TVS, it will also expand its lineup, with the launch of new models based on this platform. N. Radhakrishnan, TVS Motor Company Director and CEO, had stated earlier this year that new motorcycles based on the RR310’s platform are under consideration for 2021.

These new models will include a streetfighter naked and an adventure motorcycle. With the popularity of adventure bikes rising in India, we expect TVS to enter this market space very soon. This new ADV bike is expected to be priced lower than its Beemer counterpart, and could be a direct rival to the KTM 250 Adventure and Hero’s upcoming 300cc motorcycle.

The TVS Adventure motorcycle will be powered by the same reversed-inclined 312.2cc, single-cylinder, inline-4 engine, which generates a maximum power of 34 PS and a peak torque of 27.3 Nm. It will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox, with a race-tuned slipper clutch available as standard. The motorcycle will also offer dual-channel ABS.

We also expect the bike to offer the brand’s Smart Xonnect tech, along with a ride-by-wire system (with riding modes as well). It will also get a multi-colour TFT display, the same as on the Apache RR310. The suspension setup will be similar to the RR310, with golden-finished USD front forks and a monoshock rear suspension, but will have longer travel on both ends.

TVS could also draw inspiration from its Dakar rally bike for the upcoming motorcycle. TVS was the first Indian manufacturer to participate in the gruelling rally event, back in 2015. We expect some rally-centric tech to trickle down into the road-going motorcycle. As for the price, we expect it to soar around the Rs. 2.6 lakh mark, which is just a shade under the new BS6-compliant BMW G310 GS.

Honda CB350 First Service Cost Details – Cheaper Than RE Classic 350 ?

Honda CB350 First Service Cost Details – Cheaper Than RE Classic 350 ?

The Honda CB350 is the most affordable product in the company’s BigWing lineup – Is the service cost affordable?

Honda BigWing, the premium motorcycle outlet network of the Japanese brand, has commenced deliveries of the much hyped H’ness 350 retro-classic motorcycle a few days ago and one of the first customers managed to clock a little over 700 km in 8 days and logged his experience through a video.

Honda CB350 first service cost

Service and Maintenance costs are among the major factors which buyers take into consideration before purchasing a new car or a bike. Royal Enfield Classic 350’s low service cost has been a major factor that has helped the bike become a leader in the segment. Honda CB350 has managed to match the Royal Enfield in terms of looks / design, beaten in terms of power / torque. But will the CB350 manage to beat RE Classic 350 in terms of service and maintenance costs?

The Honda CB350’s first free service is scheduled at 1,000 km, and as expect, the motorcycle was subjected to regular inspections and consumables change. It is to be noted that the CB350 can be serviced only at Honda BigWing centers of which there are only a handful in India at the moment. However, given the volume potential the most affordable Honda premium bike, the company would be expanding the presence of its BigWing outlets briskly.

Coming back to the first  service, the motorcycle received new engine oil (Idemitsu 10W30) which is priced at INR 1,066 for 2 liters, a new oil filter which is priced at around INR 63.55, O-ring for 103.92 and a washer for 3.12. Honda does not charge the customer for labor and washing during the free service. Below is the detailed video by Abhinav Bhatt explaining the first service of Honda CB350.

Since the motorcycle is equipped with a maintenance-free viscous air-filter, it does not require regular cleaning but needs to be replaced once in 18,000 km. Honda CB350 first service cost stands at Rs 1,469 including all taxes. In comparison, cost of Royal Enfield Classic 350 first service is about Rs 1,300.

Honda CB350 First Service Cost is under Rs 1,500

Honda CB350 Free Services

Honda offers three free services for the CB350 and this means you only pay for the consumables and not labor. The second free service is scheduled at 6,000 km or 6 months while the third and last free service is scheduled at 12,000 km or 1 year. The roadster has a service interval of 6,000 km. Once the free services are lapsed, Honda BigWing stores will be charging around INR 700 as labor charge in addition the prices of consumables.

Honda Service Quality

The Honda BigWing outlets have been handling only low volume sportsbikes so far but with the CB350, the premium service centers are expected to have a significant increase in the quantum of business. The Honda CB350 is expected to force most of the BigWing stores to expand their service capacities.

The Honda CB350 first service video by the customer shows that the technicians paid good attention to detail by checking the fasteners, adjusting the clutch lever and throttle for play, calibrating the chain slack and checking the tyre pressures. The customer who was recording the whole process from the comfort of the owners’ lounge was left impressed by the quality of work Honda BigWing’s service personnel displayed.

his is a far better service experience than given by Royal Enfield. But we also have to consider that this was the first Honda CB350 that had come for service. Will Honda manage to maintain similar levels of checks and maintenance once sales and service outlets increase; only time will tell. For now, it seems Honda has come all prepared to offer some serious competition to RE; who has enjoyed a near monopoly for years in this segment.

Tata Motors Oct 2020 Sales Highest In 99 Months – Grow By 79%

Tata Nexon

Tata Motors has yet again posted record sales – For Oct 2020, their sales increased to 23,600 units

Tata Motors has managed to retain 3rd spot on the sales table, having yet again pipped Kia Motors India to the spot. Of course Tata Motors has been around longer, and sells a wider range of cars. The manufacturer is now hobnobbing triumphantly on podium having darted ahead of Mahindra sales in recent months.

What was earlier an aim is now a reality seeing recent retail sales. The last time, Tata Motors was in such great form was back in 2012. In October 2019, sales were a modest 10,429 units.

Tata Car Sales Oct 2020 vs Oct 2019 vs Sep 2020

October 2020 sales are reported at 23,600 units at 79% percent growth up from 13,169 units sold in October 2019. The last time Tata posted higher sales than posted in Oct 2020, was back in July 2012; that is 8 years and 3 months ago – or 99 months ago.

Sales in Sep 2020 too were noteworthy at 21,200 units, and Tata Motors has outperformed that base at 11.31 percent having gained 2,398 units MoM. YoY volume gain is reported at 10,429 units. August 2020 sales was reported at 18,583 units.

After gaining a boost last quarter, Tata Motors has started Q4 2020 with its strong foot forward, in fact its strongest foot forward for the year as October 2020 sales is its highest monthly sales for the current year. Tiago, Altroz and Nexon continued to be best selling Tata cars for Oct 2020.

Diwali Boost

Sales positivity is expected to continue as Diwali approaches. The ongoing festive season has long been a strong harness for the Indian auto industry wherein people plan their purchases during this period. That’s what has propelled these months to be busy ones with manufacturers introducing new cars and variants, as well as curated finance offers to make the most of increased footfalls.

Though there was some scepticism regarding vehicle purchases as the industry bore the brunt go complete lockdown owing to Covid-19 pandemic, retail activity has continued to bolster numbers on MoM basis as business restarted in a phase wise manner. Finance offers too have been reworked to ensure ease of access, as well as ease of repayment.

New Cars

In recent years, Tata Motors has reworked its vehicle lineup, having introduced an altogether new one. Brand building has been strengthened by consistency in regard to new vehicle launches. The most recent being its premium hatch Altroz which has introduced at the start of 2020. Its Harrier SUV was introduced at the start of 2019, but was thoroughly updated in Jan 2020. Tiago, Nexon and Tigor were also updated in the same month.

Tata already has a larger seat option Harrier lined up for launch. There’s also the Hornbill micro UV. Having gained sales momentum over its current vehicle portfolio, a regular inflow of new vehicles could help sustain that momentum. For now Tata Motors sales growth is showing up very much in the green but this can be attributed to its low base sales in the comparable months in 2019. Prior to current fiscal uncertainty owing to Covid-19 pandemic, the Indian auto industry had seen sales slowdown as FY20 came to a close.
